Marcos Najera

Marcos Najera is a journalist and actor based in Los Angeles and Phoenix. He reports for NPR member station KJZZ 91.5FM in Arizona as part of the KJZZ Latino Affairs Desk. He also contributes to WGBH’s The World, NPR’s LatinoUSA and Sirius Satellite Radio’s OutQ News.
Marcos started in journalism as a high school reporter for the bilingual newspaper El Sol de Arizona. After college, he worked as a producer/reporter at TV stations including KRON, KPIX, KTVK and KGUN. In print, he’s penned two regular columns, “Najera Nites” for Latino Perspectives Magazine and “Brown Town” for Phoenix New Times/Village Voice Media. He’s excited to blog for LatinoUSA!
Along with telling stories on-air, Marcos also tells stories on-stage as an actor. His most recent work-in-progress, JABON, chronicles the oral-histories of people punished for speaking Spanish in Arizona schools. Marcos works as a teaching artist for The Mark Taper Forum/LA Music Center. He holds a B.A./M.A. from Stanford University.
